Fifth Sunday of Easter / Mother's Day
May 10, 2020 •
The family to be together, to be united again. It's really a beautiful thing that the Lord would arrange it to happen on this particular (day). But, that desire on the heart of a natural mother, is no different than the heart of the Mother that is the Church. The Church is our Mother, and she longs to be with us. We have been deprived of that for so long and that breaks the heart of our Mother the Church. ...
Mothers have this very visual and sensual image of the ones that they love - their family members are "in their heart." And when their family members are suffering, the mother feels that in her heart in a very special way. ... That's definitely a very maternal passion. She has everyone she loves in her heart, and she wants to be in the hearts of everyone she loves.
That desire is manifested, is taught to us today, from Jesus Himself.
Acts 6:1-7; Ps 33: 1-2, 4-5, 18-19; 1Pt 2:4-9; Jn 14:1-12
Homily begins at 14:55
