Easter Sunday of the Lord's Resurrection
April 9, 2023 •
The words that the angel spoke to Abraham are quite profound. He says: "I know now how devoted you are to God since you did not withhold from me your own beloved son."
God chose Abraham because he was most like Him, like God the Father. We know this because God the Father perfectly offered His own Son in sacrifice. For love.
So if the angel says to Abraham: "You are clearly devoted to God because you are willing to sacrifice your own beloved son", then that means God is devoted to you.
Because he did offer his only begotten Son.
Think about that for a moment.
God is devoted to you.
That's the love that the Father has for us. So devoted He did not even hold back that which was most precious to Him.
That's the whole message of the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That God loves us this much. He is this devoted to us.
How devoted are you to God?
Are there things in your life that you withhold from Him?
Acts 10:34a, 37-43; Ps 118:1-2, 16-17, 22-23; 1 Cor 5:6b-8; Jn 20:1-9
